Excellent! Did you build the electric panel from the kit or buy it assembled from the Electric Brewery?

I built that before there was even a kit. Had to buy all the parts from the plans and cut the holes, wire everything etc. took forever, but very satisfying when it turned on!
Consequently I have forgotten every skill I picked up building it.

Hi, my name is Omar. I live in Broomall, PA. I've been brewing all-grain for about 10 years. I enjoy drinking Bavarian Weissbier and Helles, but I've never been able to brew them as well as commercial examples.
I'd like to thank the authors of the Bavarian Helles pdf for all of their research, and for publishing their methods so the rest of the homebrewing community can benefit.

Hi there,
My name is Ricardo. Matt Chrispen led me to your forum.
I am originally from Argentina and live now in Austin, TX (since 6 months ago). I lived in Munich for 5 years.
I have a PhD in Physiology and work in drug development.
I started homebrewing in 2007 and went all-grain in 2011. I am a bit over 100 batches at this moment (mostly all grain).
At home, I only brewed ales in Germany because I could not control fermentation tem below 15C (lived in an apartment just by Viktualienmarkt). I did however, brewed a few lagers with friends.
I was a regular at the monthly Brewer's Stammtisch in Munich. About half were homebrewers and the other half retired pro brewers (most worked at Augustiner). My best guess is that I drank about 500 liters of Helles in these 5 years and many of the other local offers.
My favorite Helles were Augustiner and Tegernsee, and other favorites were the Wiesnbier and Sommerbier from Hofbräu, Aventinus, and the dopplebocks from Ayinger and Andechs.
I was BIAB in Munich and doing a BIAB with recirculation in Austin.
I like competitions to validate my process, so I have been sending many beers to state competitions and NHC; I am quite proud (and lucky) to have placed 14 beers this year in various competitions (including Helles and other lagers).
I am a big fan of the scientific method and Sherlock Holmes; as my graduate mentor use to say "Nice hypothesis, now show me the data...".
In this vein, a few phrases I like:
- “Data! Data! Data!” he cried impatiently. “I can’t make bricks without clay!
- “The temptation to form premature theories upon insufficient data is the bane of our profession.”
(both from Conan Doyle via Sherlock Holmes)
some funny ones too...
- “Torture the data, and it will confess to anything.”
- “In God we trust. All others must bring data.”
I know how much work it is to set up a forum and be responsive so thanks so much for sharing your knowledge with others.
Looking forward to learning from y'all.
