Re: Finally brewed that lager
Will do, 5.4 on this mash (combined with long alpha rest and FB/Carahell) has resulted in great body but 75% attenuation. What's ideal for a pils, ~80% EVG for just under 1.010 FG on a 1.048 beer?

Re: Finally brewed that lager
Final beer pH is greatly influenced by primary fermentation intensity. More yeast or faster primary = lower final pH. I've had super-accelerated (3 day primary) go below 4.1, whereas something like Pilsner Urquell with a long, slow fermentation is up around 4.5. Ales are generally lower than lagers because of the more intense primary phase.
I wouldn't screw with it though, Kunze gives the ideal as 4.2-4.4, so you're right on the money. Any lower and you might end up too "crisp."
