In what step of the brewing or fermenting process is filtering preferred?

This can happen at 3 points.
- after boil
- at transfer to secondary
- at end of conditioning
Most typically it is done at end of conditioning. How you do it and at which stages depends on your aims, needs and capabilities.

If I transfer from a spunding keg, through a filter, to a serving keg, will I lose carbonation?
