Very Cool, thanks for linking that.

I am very interested in the Co2 stripping methods, primarily because we almost all have aeration stones and Co2 on hand. I would think it would be easy enough to recirc with a stone near the pickup tube and see how long it takes to drop DO.

Or maybe glueing something like this to a speidel BM? I have a friend who works with industrial degassing, he said this would be an effective method.

I was thinking about trying to get a CIP ball mounted to the underside of a kettle lid, then have a tee'd Co2 input with a carb stone on feeding the CIP ball.

I am not sure how well just diffusing CO2 like that will work. Probably not very well.

Degassing columns need to be tall and narrow to be effective, and their design needs to take into account the dynamics of the flowing gas in order to prevent e.g. channeling where all of the gas just flows along the outside edge of the column and doesn't strip other gasses from the majority of the volume. Typically you also need to pull a vacuum from the top in order to get very low DO levels.

Of course once you actually have a well designed packed column in place, it's probably one of the most energy efficient ways of getting degassed water.

Looking at the graphs of flow vs vacuum rate, with the smaller mini module contactors and just vacuum, you could approach nearly DO free water but your output rate would drop to ~50ml/min. That would be an agonizingly long wait for your brewing water. And as mentioned above if you didn't have a perfect oxygen free place to store the water while collecting...
