Extinct German Styles

Ever since Ron Pattinson made mention of several extinct German styles in his European Beer Guide (http://www.europeanbeerguide.net/gerstyle.htm) I've been really curious to find more information. There are so many oddities there like Kirschenbier (German cherry beer?!), Hamburger Bier (Amber wheat beer made with oats and spices?!), Geithayner Bier (some weird open fermenation lager thing?!), and several others that I really just have to know more. Unfortunately, I can't find much online other than Ron's postings. Do any of you happen to have or know of where to find more information on these beers?
As an aside, if anyone is interested in some of the notes Ron gave me on Berliner Weiss from some now defunct East German breweries, I'd be happy to share.
