Need help for my Jever Clone

Postby Morris » Thu Jun 13, 2019 6:52 pm

Hi,

I'm new here to this forum, and I wonder if there's anyone who can help me with the design I'm making for a Jever clone. I really like the clean dry taste of this brand and it's herbal hoppy character.

For a 5 gallon brew I intend to to use:

3.5 kg of Weyermann's pilsner malt
105 grams of Hallerthau Mittelfrüh hop pellets (3.75 a.a.)
WLP850 Copenhagen yeast
Adjusted R.O. water (Ca 46 ppm, Mg 5 ppm, Na 15 ppm, SO4 75 ppm, Cl 30 ppm, HCO3 60 ppm)

Because I want to use solely pilsner malt and can afford to spend my time on doing a decoction mash, I think a Hochkurz Double Decoction would be most appropriate.

I'm going to split my hop in three portions; 35 grams first wort, 35 grams at 60 minutes and 35 grams at 10 minutes before end of boil. This will result in a calculated IBU of about 50.

I'm looking forward to any reactions/suggestions.

Morris
