Low O2 System Planning

Locline, pump and locknuts are here.

Locknuts were a screaming deal at $0.75 each. I bought ten.

I have to pump at about 50% max flow because I am direct-fire heating my mash steps, otherwise I get thermal stratification under the false bottom. I ended up trying several configurations with the loc-line (and other SS configurations) because I was getting a lot of scour in the mash bed because of the flow velocities. I tried putting it around the perimeter and in the center with the flow going outward and then inward. I even bough a Y connector and female connector to make a complete loop. In the end, I ended up just making a straight piece of loc-line and drilling a hole opposite of the molded port. This final configuration provides the most even and least forceful distribution of flow across the top of the grain bed in my system.

I'm going to run it at 5v. The nameplate says 13L/min at max flow with 12v. I'm hoping to reduce the flow by using the smaller voltage adapter.

The circle flow was causing you problems or your pump velocities were causing you problems?

Velocity. Now that both sides of each segment have holes, I'm sure I could make a ring out of it again, and it would be fine.

I just made my last fittings purchase. Once my sight glass and triclover fittings come I'm assembling and testing.

Cool, I just ordered mine this morning - a 50 ft. double coil with garden hose fittings. It was $70 on Amazon which seemed like a good deal.
