Don't go too small. The kegs of beer don't last as long ;)

If I could change the kettle, I'd increase the height and decrease the diameter, as well as move the top inlet up a few more inches.

During the siphon, some CO2 can come out of solution due to the movement of the beer and the slight decrease in the headspace pressure caused by burping the keg. If this CO2 forms a bubble in the dip tube or liquid line, it will stop the siphon.

Assuming you still have positive pressure inside the kegs, you can simply restart the siphon by briefly disconnecting the gas jumper line, burping the receiving keg, then reconnecting the gas jumper.
