Arrogant Bastard Wussie

Postby Brody » Fri Aug 19, 2016 12:13 am

Had one of these tonight.. a 47ibu "Northern German (think they misspelled California as N German) Pilsner" from Arrogant Bastard (which I think is Stone). Not bad but man that was aggressively hopped. Drinks like an IPA.

I saw it on the end cap the other day and due to my recent lodo conversion and my aversion to beers from Stone, I winced and moved on.

Eh, I think Stone does a a good job on the west coast IPA (I tend to like my IPA's more in line with the low-IBU fruity Vermont-North East ones) and I'm sure they have an advanced brewhouse. I've heard them go on about freshness and oxygen before.

That being said I won't be rushing to order this one again but it was interesting... I'm used to a US take on a pils either being a Miller Lite or bland. This was definitely a pure hop assault and one-dimensional.

I've had AB many times, and I still don't know what it is supposed to taste like. Poor oxygen control, heat, handling...I'm not sure, but it's rarely good and never consistent.
