It's not an exact science. There are many factors affecting bitterness. If it turns too "mastig" (don't know the english word) then upping it a little is a good idea. Remember that the taste threshold for bitterness is about 5 IBU. If you are a little below that, then it's bad luck indeed.

Everyone needs to adjust their recipe to their methods and system. Tinseth does not take pH and water composition into account. That's a huge factor too. I find it easier to adjust the BSAG for every recipe instead. Less pain :)

Indeed I prefer them filtered too. But didn't you say last time, that you preferred the unfiltered version? #confused
