Full mash tun

I use an 8 gallon mash tun. If I fill it all the way to the top and do no-sparge with recirculation, it seems like it will be the perfect size for a batch to ferment in a 5 gallon corny keg. No need for an adjustable mash cap. Does that sound reasonable, or am I missing something?
Thanks.

What is your heat source? Is it a kettle or cooler?

Sounds ok. I use a 10 gallon kettle as a Mash Tun, no sparge for 5 gallon corny batches. No mash cap, just a lid, and my DO levels measured out ok (under 1ppm throughout)

Nothing wrong with still using a mash cap.
