I have the Extech meter. Right now just documenting carefully each test location. Which is why I am rethinking the liquor boil conundrum... moving liquor from the BK to the HLT will be helpful isolating my pump/chiller cold side without risking a beer through it first.

So big matrixes over several brew days should give me good data to analyze my gear, procedure and locate any trouble areas. Cold side will be my weakest link as I have heavily modified the Chill Wizard.

It is good to know where the leaks are before you start using SMB. Since you already have a meter, checking where your infusion points are before you do a batch with SMB is the smart way to go. Once you start using SMB, you won't notice it scavenging the DO with your meter; however, if you haven't fixed the leaks you'll create more sulfate than you want. This can be remedied by the yeast later, but it's best to get a nice, tight system.
