Isn't it appalling that the homebrewing literature doesn't even show the classic cold fermentation schedule?

There isn't one amateur book which correctly explains how to brew a lager, never mind an online publication, like BYO etc... And don't get me started on Dumbusch's writings. His book on Helles is pure gunk.

From water to grain, mash to boil, chill to fermenter, there isn't a single publication explaining any of the key concepts correctly. Instead they spread an approach that is downright wrong. An approach that will NEVER produce a decent Pils, Lager or Helles.

Not that I mind that much, but this fud makes a sensible discussion impossible and a bad experience. There always comes that point where someone suddenly has to unlearn the bullshit they memorised. Unlearning is harder than learning. This makes for some very uncomfortable encounters and is the main reason I am not interested in the whole homebrewing scene.

It's basically a snake pit, and my time is too precious for that.
