Yes they are. I'm just throwing this out there, but can Calibration Gas be used for food purposes; in our case carbonating beer? Here's a 17 Liter Cylinder of 99.999% pure CO2 for $33.54 (plus shipping).

Another possible option to increase CO2 purity is this Vici Metronics CO2 purifier. It filters several contaminants, one of which is oxygen. It's not cheap though at $215.00.

It sounds like if you are using injected CO2 it is better to carbonate at serving pressure rather than jacking the pressure up in order to carbonate more quickly.

My thought is if a keg had another diptube or lower port with a coarse stone attached you could inject CO2 in cold beer and set a spund valve for a few PSI and let the excess vent. I think blowing the gas straight in the liquid tube would just make a lot of foam and waste CO2. Maybe it would work at a slow rate?
It is an interesting concept though if you just continuously vent the excess gas it sweeps out most of the O2.
