Oxygen scavenging caps and flavor stripping

New Belgium pro brewer running the lab there stated that oxygen scavenging caps strip good aromas in addition to oxygen. Never heard of it nor found any literature. Have you ever read of this?

Not here either. I've been told all they add is iron shavings or dust under the liners to absorb the oxygen. I wonder if they are just losing aroma from oxidation and not the caps compounds.

Per the brewer it was a blind comparison of a beer with a tire in the name, regular vs OS caps, and tested at 1, 3 and 6 months. Stored cold. Difference starting at 3 months. Regular caps did show oxidation but not dullness.
So this was some oxidation (no OS) vs total dullness (OS).

I've read the same somewhere. It might be the source I've read it is actually Sierra Nevada Brewing CO. But what I know is that SN used oxygen scavenging caps for a while, but not anymore.
