Is this something N Brewer will be carrying in the future or is it a special order?

As of right now it was a special order, but I do believe NB/MW will be carrying this soonish.

I really do like it!
For years all I used was Best Malz, until recently (last year) I switched over the Weyermann, as I always found Weyermann a little bit dirtier, best was too clean and maybe that could help me.. I went right to the Floor malted bopils, I HATE, HATE that malt. It made all my beers tasted like wet dirty hay, with hints of green apple peels. It was very off putting to me, but others only told me it was "something" off. Only thing in the recipes that changed was the malt. So then in my research I came across the Barke, and pushed and pushed to get it available here in the states, as it was only available to commercial. So my LHBS finally got it, and now I have the pils, vienna, and the munich. Chewing on the grain, doesn't leave you blown away or anything, but its has very pleasant flavors. My favorite is the Munich. In beer the pils gives a good graininess, smooth flavor. The finish is what makes it for me though, it's leaves this fresh wort flavor, like sipping your first running from the mash tun.. and its just hangs around in your mouth forever, you can pic it up in the aroma as well with a strong maltiness. I don't have notes on the others yet..as the beer is still in the femrenter. But I REALLY want to brew a vienna lager soon here!

A brew of very old would be 100% Vienna and Styrian Goldings. With today's malts I'd. Still opt for a 2% Carahell charge
Sounds like a really yummy malt. Probably the closest one can get to the stuff the breweries make.

Last November I got a bag each of the Barke Pils and light Munich. I've used them so far in 2 Alt's and 2 Kolsch and all I have to say about them is eh. IMHO very little difference from the standard Weyermann pils. Think I'll go back to using Bestmalz.
Cheers.

Just brewed a Helles with Barke Pils, I usually use Best but thought I'd try something new. Same efficiency but did notice a little more hot break than usual in the boil. More egg drop soup.

I tried Barke and wasn't convinced it's worth paying the markup

Any new impressions on the Barke malt? I need to buy a new sack of pima and was considering changing from my usual Franco-Belges.
