The helles I have lagering now was made with 2206. Pitched at 45 F and I had krausen forming within 12 hours. The beer had an OG of 1.050 and finished at 1.012 with an attenuation limit of 1.010. All that said, it took about 11 days to hit FG whereas I've had 838 finish in as little as 5 or 6 days.

Totally agree about needing some patience...my lagers really improve after at least 4-5 weeks.

I honestly haven't used a German lager yeast that I didn't like. They all have their own unique subtleties, but some do take longer than others. What I liked most about 835 was the fact that it gave the beer the same subtle floral aroma that I've noticed in Andechs, which I thought was really nice.
