If the basket was larger, I probably could. Given the gravity of most lagers or bitter or mild - I could probably hit it.

Yeah, you could do no sparge with a small volume.

Working on the rest. As for a whirlpool, you would circulate through the chiller to sanitize it and the hops/trub builds up on the little filter and starts to clarify the wort. I just bought a stainless immersion chiller to use instead of the counterflow. Plan to try it out tomorrow.

I have also ordered a Brew Bag to fit it - thinking it will provide a better malt filtration than the basket - so we will see. Had to order it custom - so won't be here till next week.

Cool, I'm pretty set on getting one now, will offer a lot of nice upgrades to my current process.

I'm curious how detrimental it really would be to use the copper CF chiller, it seems to work really well and I'd hate to just discard it. Not sure a DO meter can even help measure that.

Thinking that if you did use the CF chiller and positioned the output tube well enough you could create a solid whirlpool in the Grainfather to create a trub cone. My tap water is HOT - 75-80 degrees F - so I would be using a bucket of ice water + pond pump with the CF chiller.

Maybe. I had better luck just chilling to under 160f. Turning off the pump and stirring. Let that sit for 15 minutes, then knock out.
