Re: LODO Sodium Metabisulfite Dosage Spreadsheet

Thanks for doing that, it's much different than my old school row/column brain.

Ok - I am lost. I never used this feature I guess, despite using Excel for over 20 years.

Cannot find the rows/columns display to work out how the BTB section is working.

The dosage is based on batch size, not strike or boil volume. It throws an error when I simply try to change the g/l or mg/l to g/hl.

LODO Sodium Metabisulfite Dosage Spreadsheet

Why would you want to change dose to g/hl?

I made a mistake. The dose rate should be 0.4 g/l.

You can change the labels to whatever you'd like. If it's full batch size then you can just relabel the columns.

You can unlock the sheet and make any edits you'd like. I put it out there for anyone. It's likely got a few errors. I copy pasted from the NaMeta section.

I can go in later tonight and make the appropriate edits.

Here is the corrected version:
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B8F3C1b ... pe=msexcel

You just need to change the drop downs to read batch size (l) and Batch size (gal). Then change the cell below it to match these name changes.

I think I got it figured out. Added it over to the full spreadsheet. I also calculate the total sodium and sulfate potential, accounting for dilution of use in sparge water. I need to work out one little bug and will post up a "beta" of it.

Glad it helped.

Posting this up here as a BETA version. Please feel free to comment on improvements or potential errors in calculations.

Thanks to Big Monk for sending over the interface page. I did change some of the calculations (such as 76 sulfate + 24 sodium), tried to remove some dependencies (i.e. - working Mash and Sparge with different Metric or US Std volumes would break the Total Water Addition calc).

To use, you can choose variables from the dropdowns looking at SMB or BTB concentrations. If you work in Liters, select that from the RED text area. SMB and BTB are independent calculators. Total Water Addition will allow you to more accurately see water chem impact accounting for any dilution from lauter. The rest of the spreadsheet remains as previously posted. SMB dosages are based on the LODO/Helles paper. The BTB are taken from Ajinomoto BrewTan B product guide, linked on the BrewTan B worksheet.

If you wish to modify the calculations or setup your own dropdown values - you can simply unlock the worksheet. I prefer to use the actual reference dosages so there is a 1:1 correlation to data sheets. You can, of course, modify this how you would like.
