Yeah, 100 mg/l is an insurance dose for the masses. First batch, few physical system modifications for oxygen control kind of dose. If your system is tight, you have a mash cap, then you can immediately drop to 50 mg/l, likely lower. My last batch was 0.1g/kg (both strike and conditioning water) and it came out just fine.

I hate to burst everyone's bubble but brewtan will not be a substitute for SMB.

Agreed, they are synergistic in mode of action, but not analogs. I do think using BTB will likely allow folks to cut back on the SMB.
